As a district, we are beginning to make the switch to using proficiency scales to evaluate our students' learning. Below is an example of a scoring guide used to evaluate student responses to short essay questions. Score 4.0 The student will compose a TAGS response that goes above and beyond a level 3.0 score including advanced vocabulary relevant to the topic a high level of writing ability and creativity through elaborate answers. Score 3.0 The student will use the district approved TAGS method for effectively answering constructive response questions. All parts of TAGS must be present. a. T- Turn the question into a statement b. A – Answer the question avoiding unclear pronouns c. G – Give at least two details d. S – Search for COPSS – Capitalization, Organization, Punctuation, Sentence Structure, Spelling Score 2.0. The student will use the district approved TAGS method for effectively answering constructive response questions. At least two of four parts of TAGS must be present.
